Loch Knolls
The Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District is continuing it efforts from last year to find and remove the ground and surface water infiltration into the public sewer system in the Loch Knolls area. This webpage is for property owners in the area of Loch Knolls to sign up for inspections looking for illegal connections.
The Sanitary District has completed camera inspections in the area and have found several sewer services with excess water coming into the public sewer system from their private line. The District has verified some illegal connections and they are being addresses. Under Article 10, Powers and Authority of Inspections, the District employees with proper credentials shall be permitted to enter all properties for the purpose of inspection, observation, measurement, sampling and testing with the provisions of this ordinance.
The District has provided you with a letter requesting the property owners to sign up for an inspection time between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday-Friday (not including Holidays) to have your property inspected for illegal connections.
Anyone refusing access to their property will fall under Section 10.01 (B) which states:
Failure to allow access to a property for the purposes of inspection, observation, measurement, sampling, and testing is a violation of these ordinances and shall result in a minimum $75.00 a day surcharge to the sewer rental fee until access is permitted. If the District is required to see judicial intervention to access the property, the owner shall reimburse the District for all legal costs including but not limited to attorney fees and court costs.
All property owners must have a schedule date for an inspection no later than June 30,2019, or the District will consider this failure to allow access by the property owner. Those who don’t have a scheduled inspection date by the time required, will start to be surcharged on their sewer bill $75.00 per day, until access is allowed by the property owner or through judicial action.
