LAKESHORE DRIVE INTERCEPTOR PROJECT
This project added around 1,800 feet of 8 inch sewer and four manhole to the gravity sewer system between Colcord's Point and Alexander Street in the City of Okoboji. The project diverted water from the 1930's clay sewer line that goes to the lake side of house in the project area down Lakeshore Drive and connects into the new sewer line from the Center Lake Project Bid Package 3. The purpose is to get the flow from the north collection areas out of the 8 inch clay line on the lake front. The reasons for this project are, the pipe has developed a belly that has reduced capacity, one manhole has a bypass that goes into West Okoboji and the pipe in in a high bank area near the lake, which could collapse over time. The sewer was installed with pilot tube micro-tunneling method and left the casing pipe installed and C900 pipe was strung through the casing pipe. Drops were added at manholes for residents to connect to in the future. The Minger Construction from Jordan Minnesota was awarded the project with the bid price of $1,994,240.00.
