PERMITS AND THE ASSOCIATED COSTS

To expose any Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District facility such as manholes or sewer mains, a written permit must be issued the Sanitary District office.  A permit is also needed for make any changes, repairs or modifications to a private sewer line connected to the Sanitary District's system.

If a new connection is being made to a lot for the first time, for one unit, then the cost of the permit is $400 for the permit and an additional $5.00 for the inspection fee.

If making a connection for to a structure wit multiple units, then the cost is $400 for the first unit and $150 for each additional unit and the $5.00 inspection fee.

At any time that a property adds an additional unit, they will the permit will be $150 for each additional unit and the $5.00 inspection fee.

If the permit is for a repair of an existing private sewer system or replacement an existing private sewer system, then the cost is $5.00 for the inspection.

For commercial and industrial facilities, the floor plan must be provided to determine the number of units in the structure. Once that is determined, then the cost is $400 for the first unit and $150 for each additional unit and the $5.00 inspection fee.
